Delhi Election 2025: Kejriwal Alleges Fake Voters and Demands Action Against BJP Candidate
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has intensified his accusations of electoral malpractices ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections. On Thursday, Kejriwal met senior officials of the Election Commission, urging them to disqualify BJP candidate Parvesh Verma from contesting in the New Delhi Assembly constituency. He accused Verma of “openly distributing money” and organizing job camps to influence voters, which he claimed are violations of the Election Commission’s rules. Kejriwal also demanded raids on Verma’s residence to uncover unaccounted cash.
“Parvesh Verma’s actions fall under corrupt practices. His house should be raided to reveal how much money is being used to manipulate voters,” Kejriwal stated after his meeting with the poll panel.
Kejriwal further alleged a widespread scam involving fake voters in the electoral rolls. “Between December 15 and January 7, over 5,500 fake applications for voter cancellations were submitted in the New Delhi Assembly constituency. These applications were found to be fraudulent after verification,” he claimed. He also accused the BJP of bringing people from other states to create fake votes, with 13,000 new voter applications allegedly filed in the last two weeks.
Blaming the local election officer for siding with the BJP, Kejriwal demanded their suspension, asserting, “The officer has surrendered to BJP’s demands, facilitating these unlawful activities.” The Election Commission assured AAP of strict action and fair practices during the elections.
The BJP dismissed Kejriwal’s allegations, with Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar clarifying that the voter deletion process follows a rigorous 70-step verification system involving political parties. He refuted claims of arbitrary deletions, stating, “No deletion can occur without following due procedure, including Form 7.”
The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for February 5, with results to be announced on February 8. Kejriwal’s allegations have added a new layer of controversy to the high-stakes electoral battle in the capital.
